Camp Information


The road to becoming a great fiddle player often involves many long hours practicing your tunes over and over again. Most of the time is spent practicing alone, in a far off room away from family, friends and neighbors until you start to sound good! The path to becoming a great performer is often a lonely one!

What ever level you may be, you DON'T have to be alone anymore! Here at camp, you will meet others who are enjoying mastering their instruments, just like you. Students will be divided into small groups, each with their own instructor. To profit from the variety of styles and talents of our teachers, supplementary sessions and private sessions will be available.

It is so enriching to be in a class where you can listen and learn from others, just like you and to be led by not only is a gifted musician, but gifted instructor as well.

Gordon Stobbe GORDON STOBBE : Gordon is from Nova Scotia and is well-known throughout Canada and the USA teaching at fiddle camps as well as privately, and he works with television and radio. Visit Gordon's website

Sherryl Fitzpatrick SHERRYL FITZPATRICK : Sherryl is from the Ottawa area and teaches fiddle. She has taught at our camp for six years. Visit Sherryl's website

J.J. Guy J.J. GUY : J.J. is from Saskatchewan. As a true devotee of fiddle music, one of J.J.'s passions is teaching at fiddle camps, schools and workshops. Along with a busy performing schedule, J.J. is active as a guest artist and judge at many fiddle contests. Visit J.J.'s website

Kimberley HolmesKIMBERLY HOLMES : Kim is a wonderful accompanist for fiddlers and has recorded with Gordon Stobbe, Shane Cook, Richard Wood and many others. Kim also plays fiddle and teaches in Nova Scotia.

StaceyStacey Lynn Read: Stacey has been performing since the age of 4. She has three solo recordings under her belt and countless performances and awards won across Canada. After obtaining her degree in music, she has returned to Sackville NB where she spends her days teaching private students, and her nights performing with the band Masons Tender. KristaKrista Touesnard: Hailing from Cape Breton Island, Krista became an adopted New Brunswicker in 1994. She began her professional career as a member of the Cape Breton Summertime Revue, touring nationally for three years and playing theatres such as the National Arts Center and the Hummingbird Center. Krista moved to Fredericton to obtain an Arts and Education degree from the University of New Brunswick.

StephanieStephnie LePine: A talented violinist for over 15 years, she was born and evolves into a musical family. Son aventure musicale a commencé très jeune, alliant le piano et le violon classique. Greg SimmGreg Simm: Greg plays acoustic and electric bass and guitar. Greg has experience as a player in many musical styles ranging from country to traditional folk. He has also appeared in productions at Neptune Theatre and the Ship's Company Theatre in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia where he is musical director. He has been involved in many recording projects as a player, composer and producer. He has performed with many notable Maritime performers including Laura Smith, Natalie MacMaster, Lenny Gallant, Kendra MacGillvary and Richard Wood.
